Even if you expect a refund, most people dread the thought of filing their taxes. But what if a company devised a way to give you a “bonus” on top of your tax refund if you used their tax preparation software? That is exactly what Intuit did by developing a TurboTax product extension called the Refund Bonus Program. The goal was to provide TurboTax users the ability to purchase discounted gift cards with their tax refund dollars, thereby increasing the value of their return by 10-50%. Enablus was tasked with four primary objectives:
- Direct the technology development and system integration, while also program manage the operations/fulfillment components which included installation of custom-built collation & insertion machinery, and build-out of a secured production facility at Intuit’s fulfillment partner, Cenveo.
- Perform complex systems integration to manage product & customer data feeds from Intuit, retail partners, FedEx, & Cenveo’s SAP system
- Build a web portal for Intuit’s Customer Service Representatives and a direct email interface to SilverPop to provide email communication to the TurboTax users.
- Harden all systems, processes, and facilities to adhere to rigorous Level-Two security standards established by Intuit and American Express, a key partner.
The Enablus team assisted Intuit every step of the way before, during and after the launch. We constructed a technology solution to receive the customer orders from Intuit, process the orders through the fulfillment process, interface with FedEx to assign package tracking numbers, capture gift card serial number’s, activate all cards, and build a customer service portal. The end result was the delivery of $40 Million in gift cards delivered to TurboTax customers in Year One.
