Enablus Enables Generation Z With Next-Gen Products

From the Atlanta Small Business Examiner. Written by Sam Dobrow on August 18, 2009.

When Andy Williams founded Enablus in 2005 he knew he was on to something revolutionary. Watching his kids grow up with and use digital technologies in every aspect of their lives gave him insight to the future his company creates. Generation Z is the first generation to enter the workforce without any recollection of life before the Internet, DVD, MP3, Cell phones, text messaging, and social networking Internet sites. The companies of tomorrow will create and sell new digital products to a generation addicted to mobile computing. Consumers of the digital generation ("Generation-Z") will demand products that have not even been imagined today. Andy Williams with his boutique consulting firm, Enablus, is forging the path for companies with foresight. Enablus is a digital product development company capable of taking digital products from concept through delivery. They specialize in understanding and creating the end user experience.

Andy is a serial entrepreneur. He's worked for some really big companies, like American Express, where his entrepreneurial group built some of the earliest online booking systems, but he keeps finding himself drawn to the small start up companies where everyone is treated like family. He considers developing relationships one of his keys to success. As relationship builder, Andy's job spans everything from sales and strategic partnerships to employee relations, banking and business law. When it comes to employees, Andy attracts top talent by "finding cool projects and allowing [his people] to have fun doing the things they do". He also believes it is important to treat people with respect and never burn your bridges. Andy holds himself accountable to a high degree of integrity and he expects the same from his people.

There is no "typical" customer for Enablus; they can range from a single person business to a Fortune 50 company. His clients tend to be technology aware but not necessarily techies. Additionally they tend to work in the marketing or new product development areas of their business. There are a lot of competitors in the market and Enablus positions themselves as being small, agile and responsive. Unlike some of the mega-consulting firms who keep their best people in sales, Enablus always brings their "A-Team" to the table at every stage of the engagement. Andy tends to hire more senior people and has developed strategic partnerships with highly talented contractors.

In the challenging economic environment of today, companies are looking to model the most successful companies and are making technology investments. These companies have reached out to Enablus for expertise on competitive product development and being faster to market while maintaining a lean staff. Technology is on the rebound and Andy is excited about the prospect of a generation of consumers who grew up with mobile computing entering the workforce. He feels that every company needs multiple platforms for Internet connectivity and the mobile computing platform is ready to explode with the evolution of new devices like the iPod and iPhone. Enablus is poised to grow revenues by 40% in 2009.
Andy is a family man. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends when he's not enabling strategic relationships. Andy enjoys following the pursuits of his older son who is a competitive baseball player and those of his younger son, an aspiring actor. His wife and kids enjoy his culinary skills, esp when it comes to seafood and pasta. His other diversions include golf and outdoor activities.
